BillHelper Australia

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 August 2026.

BillHelper ("we") compares your electricity bill against published plan pricing. This policy describes exactly what we do with your information, and it is written to match how the service actually works.

Your uploaded bill

Your bill is processed to read the plan details and usage needed for a comparison, and the uploaded file is then deleted from our servers. The results page confirms deletion only after it has actually happened. We do not build a copy library of customer bills.

What we keep

BillHelper Watch

BillHelper Watch is an optional paid monitoring add-on that isn't available yet. Registering your interest only stores your email, so we can tell you when it opens — we don't collect any payment details, and no monitoring is performed until you actively subscribe once it launches. When Watch goes live, we'll update this policy to name the payment processor used and describe what subscription information is collected.

Who processes your data

Bill reading uses Anthropic's Claude API as a processing service. Our application and database are hosted on Render. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your details with electricity retailers unless you choose to follow a referral link — what happens on a retailer's own site is governed by their privacy policy.

How we make money

Some retailers pay us a referral fee if you switch through our links. This never affects ranking — see How we make money.

Your rights

We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or unsubscribe at any time: hello@billhelper.com.au. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
