How we make money

The bill comparison is free for you to use, with no obligation to switch anything. We make money two ways: some electricity retailers pay us a referral fee if you switch to their plan through a link on our results page, and we're building BillHelper Watch, an optional paid add-on ($79/year, not yet available) for customers who want us to keep checking the market on their behalf.

What that never changes

• Plans are ranked by your estimated annual cost only. Commission has no input into ranking — this is enforced in our software and covered by automated tests.
• The cheapest eligible plan is always shown first, whether or not it pays us anything.
• If you're already on the cheapest eligible plan, we say so — "stay on your current plan" is a result we show often, and it earns us nothing.
• BillHelper Watch (once available) won't change this either — a paid subscription doesn't influence which plan we recommend or how referral fees are disclosed.

Where we have no referral arrangement with a retailer, we still show their plan and link you to it. If you'd like to support the service, using a referral link when you switch does that at no cost to you.
